This induction program will equip you with the necessary knowledge, skills, and expectations to excel.

Who We Are

SA Disability Care Pty Ltd is a dedicated provider of disability services. We offer individualized care and support to people living with disabilities and strive to enhance their quality of life by delivering compassionate, respectful, and professional services.

We are also a Home Care Package (HCP) registered provider, and a Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP) funded service provider, ensuring we can deliver a broad range of support services to individuals requiring aged care assistance.

2. Key Responsibilities of a Support Worker

As a support worker at SA Disability Care, you will be responsible for:

  • Personal Care: Assisting clients with bathing, dressing, grooming, and other personal hygiene needs.
  • Daily Living Assistance: Helping with household tasks such as cleaning, laundry, and meal preparation.
  • Mobility Support: Assisting clients with mobility needs, including transferring, using assistive devices, and accompanying them to appointments or outings.
  • Communication & Social Engagement: Supporting clients in participating in community activities, maintaining social connections, and improving communication skills.
  • Medication Assistance: Administering medication as per prescribed guidelines (if applicable) and ensuring adherence to medical requirements.
  • Documentation & Reporting: Keeping accurate records of client interactions, progress, and any incidents that may arise.
  • Safety & Well-being: Ensuring the physical and emotional safety of clients while providing care.

3. Workplace Policies & Procedures

SA Disability Care upholds strict policies to ensure a safe and ethical working environment.

Code of Conduct

All support workers are expected to:

  • Demonstrate professionalism and respect towards clients, colleagues, and stakeholders.
  • Maintain confidentiality and protect client information.
  • Act in the best interest of clients while promoting their independence.
  • Comply with company policies and procedures at all times.

Workplace Health & Safety (WHS)

  • Adhere to safety guidelines to prevent workplace hazards.
  • Follow manual handling protocols to minimize the risk of injury.
  • Ensure proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) where required.
  • Report workplace hazards and incidents promptly.

Incident Reporting

In case of an incident:

  • Ensure immediate safety and provide necessary first aid.
  • Notify your supervisor as soon as possible.
  • Complete an incident report detailing the event.
  • Cooperate with investigations and follow up on corrective actions.

Client Rights & Safeguarding

Clients have the right to:

  • Be treated with dignity and respect.
  • Make their own decisions regarding care and support.
  • Receive high-quality, safe, and person-centered services.
  • Have their complaints or concerns addressed fairly and transparently.

Support workers must remain vigilant in identifying any signs of abuse, neglect, or exploitation and report concerns immediately.

4. Training & Compliance

To maintain a high standard of service, SA Disability Care requires all support workers to complete mandatory training, including:

  • First Aid & CPR Certification: Ensuring the ability to respond to emergencies.
  • Manual Handling & Mobility Support: Learning safe lifting techniques to protect both clients and workers.
  • Infection Control & Hygiene Practices: Preventing the spread of illnesses and maintaining cleanliness.
  • NDIS Worker Orientation Module: Understanding the rights, responsibilities, and ethical obligations under the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).
  • Safeguarding & Duty of Care: Ensuring that clients are protected from harm and treated with care.

5. Communication & Teamwork

Effective communication and collaboration are essential for providing exceptional care.

  • Client Interaction: Use clear, respectful, and empathetic communication.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with colleagues, clients, and families to provide holistic support.
