The NDIS funds capacity building nursing supports such as:

  • Training by a nurse to provide you, a carer, or a support worker to manage things like medication prompting and simple wound care.
  • Assessment by a qualified nurse on what services and level support you need (e.g. a continence assessment).

All NDIS funded nursing services must be related to your disability and assist you to improve your long-term wellbeing. They are usually delivered over a short period of time and stop once your capacity to manage your own care has been built or your short-term medical needs have ended.

Services may include:

  • Medication management
  • Diabetes Management
  • Pressure wound care
  • Wound management

Nursing care may also be provided to participants who have complex individual support needs that are best met by someone who has medical training and experience.

Our nurses work closely with support workers, GPs, specialists, social services, hospitals and other healthcare staff to provide a service tailored to meet your needs.

You can receive assistance with these activities if you have funding in your NDIS plan under ‘Improved Daily Living’.
